Some taking-a-rare-stand Democrats are planning to skip the State of the Union for what they are calling “The People’s State of the Union” on the National Mall. I could not be happier! So often those of us who are hoping that the Dems will LEAD are left disappointed. But not this time!

There is no reason for people to validate Trump’s fascism by pretending that he is a normal president. He is not. And he does not deserve to have a normal democratic moment. I have heard the argument that if the Dems are not there it will only be Trump’s sycophants in attendance, to which I say, “Yay!” Let the Republicans play the roll of the destructive fools that they are. And let the Democrats share a genuinely democratic moment with the people.

Help bring back our democracy one act at a time. Please contact your representatives and encourage them to choose the people over the king by skipping King Trump’s State of the Union, and gracing the deserving citizens of our great country with their presence at the People’s State of the Union on Tuesday!
